Dr Keith Arundale is a chartered accountant and chartered marketer, author, speaker, trainer and researcher specialising in private equity and venture capital and all areas of entrepreneurial finance. He is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, University of Reading and author of two books on venture capital and the BVCA’s “Guide to Private Equity”. For some 28 years he was with PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in London, Windsor and Pittsburgh, USA latterly leading the venture capital programme and business development for the European Technology Industry Group which focused on serving the needs of entrepreneurial, fast-growth independent businesses (companies with extraordinary potential). He leads executive training programmes for lawyers, accountants and entrepreneurs on private equity and venture capital and speaks regularly on entrepreneurial finance.  His aim is to help to improve the transparency of the private equity and venture capital asset class, making it understandable to all through his books and guides, lectures, seminars and training courses.


Keith studied Physics (BSc) and Applied Optics (MSc) at Imperial College London. His PhD in venture capital is from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. His thesis explores the reasons for the historical difference in performance between European VC funds and US VC funds, focusing on the differences in the structural, operational (investment practices) and wider environmental characteristics of European and US VC firms. Keith was awarded an Adam Smith Business School Prize for his doctoral work in 2018.

Keith is the author of “Raising Venture Capital Finance in Europe” published by Kogan Page (2007) and “Venture Capital Performance: A Comparative Study of Investment Practices in Europe and the USA” published by Routledge (2020). His main research interests are the performance of venture capital funds and the investment practices of venture capital firms in UK, Europe, USA and China. He is an experienced non-executive director, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, and a Liveryman of the Chartered Accountants.
